The closest market to Lasclottes, just a few minutes away. A small but excellent village market with local fruit and vegetables, cheese, bread, charcuterie, and seasonal produce. Friendly stallholders and a genuine local atmosphere.
Villeneuve-sur-Lot
Tuesday, Wednesday (organic), & Saturday mornings
The biggest market in the area, with a covered hall (hallé) and open-air stalls spreading through the old town. The Saturday market is the largest, with an enormous selection of fresh produce, meat, fish, cheese, olives, wine, and household goods. Wednesday mornings bring a dedicated organic market (Marché Bio) on Place d'Aquitaine — one of the oldest in France.
Penne d'Agenais
Sunday morning
A charming producers' market at Port de Penne, on the banks of the River Lot, just 5 minutes from Lasclottes. Local fruit, vegetables, prunes, and farm products. Browse the stalls, pick up supplies, then stroll up to the village for a coffee with views stretching across the valley.
Fumel & Monsempron-Libos
Wednesday & Sunday mornings
Further up the Lot Valley, around 20 minutes from Lasclottes. A good-sized market with a wide range of produce. Worth combining with a visit to the Château de Bonaguil nearby.
Summer Night Markets
From late June to early September, many villages hold marchés nocturnes — evening food markets that are part market, part street party. Local producers set up stalls selling prepared food: grilled duck, oysters, paella, crêpes, local wine, and more.
You buy your food and wine from different stalls, then sit at long communal tables in the village square. There's usually live music, and the atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed. These are some of the most memorable evenings of a holiday in the Lot-et-Garonne.

The Lot-et-Garonne is known for exceptional produce. Here's what to look out for at the markets.
Pruneaux d'Agen
The famous Agen prunes — the region's signature product. Sweet, rich, and nothing like supermarket prunes. Try them stuffed with almond paste or in Armagnac.
Duck & Foie Gras
Duck is king in southwest France. Confit de canard, magret, foie gras, gésiers (gizzards), and rillettes are all widely available at markets and restaurants.
Chèvre
Local goat's cheese in every form — fresh, aged, rolled in ash, with herbs. Small producers sell directly at the markets. Pair with honey and walnuts.
Lot Valley Fruits
Strawberries, melons, tomatoes, plums, and figs in season. The fruit here is genuinely sun-ripened and full of flavour. Buy it at the market, eat it by the pool.
Dining Out
For evenings when you don't feel like cooking, there are excellent restaurants within easy reach of Lasclottes. From simple riverside bistros to more refined dining in the hilltop villages, the local restaurant scene is strong and welcoming.
Penne d'Agenais (5 minutes) has several restaurants in the village square with terrace dining and valley views. Villeneuve-sur-Lot (15 minutes) offers a wider choice, from pizzerias to gastronomic dining. In summer, many restaurants serve outdoors — book ahead for the best terrace tables.
Most restaurants offer excellent value, particularly the menu du jour (fixed-price lunch menu) which typically includes two or three courses for €15–€25 with wine.

Supermarkets
For larger shops, there are supermarkets in Villeneuve-sur-Lot (15 minutes) including Leclerc, Intermarché, and Lidl. There's also a smaller convenience shop closer in Saint-Sylvestre.
Boulangeries
Fresh bread is a daily essential in France. There are boulangeries in Saint-Sylvestre and Penne d'Agenais — stop in early for warm baguettes, croissants, and pain au chocolat.
Market Tips
Bring cash — many stallholders don't take cards. Arrive before 10am for the best choice. Don't be afraid to ask for a taste (“je peux goûter?”) — stallholders expect it.
